The Handmade & Homegrown Market

Policies & Day of Procedures

April 23rd, 2022 | 10-4 PM

MISSION: This event is Second Use’s way of offering exposure to you, the artists and makers of our community, while encouraging the public to shop small. Our low entry fee, inclusion of amenities, and strong promotional efforts are an effort to make the experience worthwhile to all vendors, no matter their experience level or sales. We strive for consistency and fairness to all vendors, and ask that you participate in the spirit of the event by treating your fellow vendors and the Second Use staff with respect.

MARKET HOURS: Sales are limited to Market hours 10:00am-4:00pm. Vendors are not allowed to break down early or stay late to continue sales. Vendors must arrive between 8:00 am and 9:00 am and be off site by 6 pm.

CHECK IN: Make sure to sign yourself in before you load in. Check in will occur at the front gate.

LOAD IN: All booths will load in from our main store entrance gate at the North end of our building.

Outdoor Booth load in will take place at the front gate, marked with Second Use signage “PICK UP + WALK IN”. The yard inside that gate will be the grounds for our outdoor market vendors. Outdoor vendors may start to load in at 7:30AM. We will be closing off our yard driveway during the market, but outdoor vendors may bring their vehicles in to drop off their materials before parking their vehicles in the vendor parking area. Please load out your booth supplies, move your vehicle, and then walk back to set up. This allows all vendors the opportunity to get their materials loaded in a timely fashion as well. Move your vehicle to the West parking lot as quickly as possible. All vehicles must be out of the yard by 9AM.

Indoor load in will take place through the oversized double doors (to ones left) after you walk through the gate and into the yard. Indoor vendors may start to load in at 8:00AM. Park as close as you can to the front gate and load in your materials from the customer parking area. We have flat carts available inside the store if you need to borrow one. Move your vehicle to the West vendor parking lot by 9AM to allow ample parking for your customers.

The Vendor Parking Lot is located next to train tracks that run adjacent to our building. Those train tracks are active tracks; keep 8FT clearance of the tracks. There is an active driveway at the south end of the lot. Do not block the driveway, and leave a thru lane down the center of the parking area!

Please give yourself adequate time to load in and set up. Second Use staff will NOT be available for assistance. Vendors may park in surrounding parking spaces for load in only.

VENDOR PARKING: Will be in the gravel lot to the west of the building. Do not leave your car in customer parking. This is for your benefit! The more available parking, the more potential sales. In case you missed the information above: The Vendor Parking Lot is located next to train tracks that run adjacent to our building. Those train tracks are active tracks; keep 8FT clearance of the tracks. There is an active driveway at the south end of the lot. Do not block the driveway, and leave a thru lane down the center of the parking area!

BATHROOM: There are two gender-neutral restrooms in the store. These bathrooms are available for customers and vendors alike. There is a “resource room” near our customer service desk. Inside you will find an extra sink for hand washing, as well as a water cooler that dispenses hot and cold water. Feel free to use this room, marked “Employees Only” on the door.

WEATHER: Outdoor vendors should come prepared for PNW spring weather. It might be wet, or windy, or sunny, or all of the above! Indoor vendors, our warehouse (where your booth will be located) is not heated. You will be dry, but you may want to wear some layers, depending on the PNW spring temperatures on market day.

SECOND USE CUSTOMERS: Our retail store opens at 9AM. We will have customers shopping our store, in the area you are setting up, starting at 9AM. We will have signs up at the entrance stating you, our market vendors, are not selling until 10AM. Feel free to let our customers know that you are not ready if they try to shop while you are setting up. Please be ready to start selling at 10AM.

$$$ TRANSACTIONS:  Vendors are responsible for handling all cash and card transactions for their customers. BYO cashbox and card reader. Wifi is limited; it is encouraged to bring a 4G or LTE data device for card reading.

BOOTH ASSIGNMENTS: Booth assignments are not disputable. Slight fluctuation in booth size may occur based on spatial constraints and the shape of the room. Be courteous to your vendor neighbors and work together to make this market successful for everyone!

FOOD: We may not have a food truck at this market. There are limited services near our store. If you are running a booth solo, you may want to pack a lunch so you are not away from your booth for too long. Franz is located due north and has some limited non-bakery foods. There will be some packaged food vendors here as well.

PACK IN/PACK OUT:  Pack out all your trash, bins are for customers.

LOAD OUT: The market closes at 4:00 PM. Vendors may begin to break down their booths at 4PM. Load out will occur in the same manner as load in. Please do not attempt to bring your vehicle into the market space until you have already packed up and broke down your space as much as possible to allow for quick load in into your vehicle at the end of the day. This allows everyone to have the benefit of getting their vehicles in to load out in a timely fashion. Everyone should be offsite by 6PM.

BY SIGNING IN ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT YOU ARE AGREEING TO ALL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
