The Handmade & Homegrown Market

Policies & Day of Procedures

April 23rd, 2022 | 10-4 PM

MISSION: This event is Second Use’s way of offering exposure to you, the artists and makers of our community, while encouraging the public to shop small. Our low entry fee, inclusion of amenities, and strong promotional efforts are an effort to make the experience worthwhile to all vendors, no matter their experience level or sales. We strive for consistency and fairness to all vendors, and ask that you participate in the spirit of the event by treating your fellow vendors and the Second Use staff with respect.

MARKET HOURS: Sales are limited to Market hours 10:00am-4:00pm. Vendors are not allowed to break down early or stay late to continue sales. Vendors must arrive between 8:00 am and 9:00 am and be off site by 6 pm.

CHECK IN: Make sure to sign yourself in before you load in. Check in will occur at the front gate.

LOAD IN: All booths will load in from our main store entrance gate at the North end of our building.

Outdoor Booth load in will take place at the front gate or in our north lot. Outdoor vendors may start to load in at 7:30AM.

Indoor load in will start at the front gate, but you may be directed to enter thru a door that is closer to your booth space by our event staff. Indoor load in will start at 8AM. If you are assigned an indoor booth space, you can bring your materials to our store on Friday (during our store hours 9AM-5:30PM) for storage, making your Saturday morning that much simpler! Everything will be stored indoors overnight. This option is for indoor vendors.

Please give yourself adequate time to load in and set up. Second Use staff will NOT be available for assistance. Vendors may park in surrounding parking spaces for load in only.

VENDOR PARKING: Do not leave your car in the customer parking lot. This is for your benefit! The more available parking, the more potential sales. Please find street parking after you have removed the necessary materials from your vehicle. Keep in mind, our parking lot is quite small, and customers may need to use the street parking directly in front of our store as well.

BATHROOM: There are two gender-neutral restrooms in the store. These bathrooms are available for customers and vendors alike. There is a employee break room near the restrooms. Inside you will find an extra sink for hand washing, as well as a water cooler that dispenses hot and cold water. Feel free to use these resources during the market.

WEATHER: Outdoor vendors should come prepared for PNW spring weather. It might be wet, or windy, or sunny, or all of the above! Indoor vendors, our warehouse (where your booth will be located) is not heated. You will be dry, but you may want to wear some layers, depending on the PNW spring temperatures on market day.

SECOND USE CUSTOMERS: Our retail store opens at 9AM. We will have customers shopping our store, in the area you are setting up, starting at 9AM. We will have signs up at the entrance stating you, our market vendors, are not selling until 10AM. Feel free to let our customers know that you are not ready if they try to shop while you are setting up. Please be ready to start selling at 10AM.

$$$ TRANSACTIONS:  Vendors are responsible for handling all cash and card transactions for their customers. BYO cashbox and card reader. Wifi is not available; please bring a 4G or LTE data device for card reading.

BOOTH ASSIGNMENTS: Booth assignments are not disputable. Slight fluctuation in booth size may occur based on spatial constraints and the shape of the room. Be courteous to your vendor neighbors and work together to make this market successful for everyone!

FOOD: We will have a food truck at this market. There are limited services near our store otherwise. If you are running a booth solo, you may want to pack a lunch so you are not away from your booth for too long.

PACK IN/PACK OUT:  Pack out all your trash, bins are for customers.

LOAD OUT: The market closes at 4:00 PM. Vendors may begin to break down their booths at 4PM. Load out will occur in the same manner as load in. Everyone should be offsite by 6PM.

BY SIGNING IN ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT YOU ARE AGREEING TO ALL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
